Hygiology has been defined as the science of or treatise on the preservation of health.
The Hygiology Post will be providing information, news, and commentary in the field of current events relating to health enhancement and health preservation consisting of physical, psychological, social, economic, and cultural factors.
The corporate mission is to avail general information (Disclaimer: We do not ever give or help communicate any specific type of advice or recommendation, professional or otherwise, such as but not limited to medical advice which a physician could specifically give to a patient, for example) to the general public in the form of news, information, and commentary (mainly on the worldwide web). The information can range from generally accepted to highly speculative that encompasses all aspects of health including physical, psychological, social, economic, and cultural factors. The information can include research across disciplines addressing individual and/or social concerns as well as in depth articles about people.
Our vision is to identify meaningful health related information primarily over the world wide web that could qualitatively enhance (the base of) knowledge and in turn help individuals and societies achieve productive goals. A goal is to communicate ideas for a healthy mind, body, society, economy, and/or culture.
Private advertising revenue and paying for archival content is a way we anticipate primarily making money. We operate in a manner that is both legal and ethical. We anticipate that some information may provide for lively dynamic discussions (e.g., via a blog) and/or provoke strong reactions. Our goal is never to offend; we hope to help others (learn). Our intent is that information can be viewed as organic/dynamic/propositional statements that can be expounded upon and/or modified versus static/authoritative information. People can come to their own conclusions (which is consistent with our disclaimer in that we are not specifically advising or recommending anything to anyone, ever).
Initially, we are (artificially) dividing information into six overlapping topical areas:
1. Commonly accepted health preservation information (e.g., stress management and exercising mind and body as ways to help prevent neurodegenerative disease).
2. Speculative Information/Health Information.
3. Guest articles/videos/information.
4. Research (such as FDA approvals and foci of biotechnology
5. Brief comments/social commentary (e.g., Involving implications for society of use of steroids in professional sports).
6. Archival Information

Louis DeCola, Jr. is the founder and President of The Hygiology Post, Inc.
He obtained a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton in 1985; completed an American Psychological Association approved internship at the Child & Adolescent Service Center in Canton, Ohio in 1989; and after completing his Dissertation (The Relationship Between the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory, in which he conducted multivariate analyses including factor analyses between the tests) graduated from the University of Akron American Psychological Association approved Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program in 1992. He also is President of Hygiology Consulting and Coaching LLC (http://www.hygiologyconsultingandcoaching.org/home).
He lives with his wife Yelena in Ashtabula, Ohio. Hobbies include exercising with free weights which he has done regularly since 1973.
