The Hygiology Post Six Part Series : Healthy Change Epilogue

This article marks the 74th since The Mission and Vision of The Hygiology Post was published 6-18-2011. The Hygiology Post Six Part Series : Healthy Change has consisted of 73 articles (including this epilogue) that began on 6/25/2011 with a prologue. The Hygiology Post Six Part Series : Healthy Change can be primarily categorized as combining research, speculation, and brief social commentary. The series did attempt to assist in understanding and predicting current health related events as evidenced by what is published in the mainstream United States (US) media and other media and information outlets worldwide. And, the series provided prescriptions for healthy change.

Hygiology has been defined as the science of or treatise on the preservation of health. The Hygiology Post attempted to provide information, news, and commentary in the field of current events relating to health enhancement and health preservation consisting of physical, psychological, social, economic, and cultural factors in the six part healthy change series. The series did appear to have an overweight emphasis on psychological and cultural factors.

The corporate mission is to avail general information (Disclaimer: We do not ever give or help communicate any specific type of advice or recommendation, professional or otherwise,  such as but not limited to medical advice which a physician could specifically give to a patient,  for example) to the general public in the form of news, information, and commentary (mainly on the worldwide web). The information can range from generally accepted to highly speculative that encompasses all aspects of health including physical, psychological, social, economic, and cultural factors. The information can include research across disciplines addressing individual and/or social concerns as well as in depth articles about people.

The Hygiology Post corporate vision is to identify meaningful health related information primarily over the world wide web that could qualitatively enhance (the base of) knowledge and in turn help individuals and societies achieve productive goals. A goal is to communicate ideas for a healthy mind, body, society, economy, and/or culture.

Twenty five years have passed since the author wrote an assigned paper in a graduate level psychology class titled “Holland’s Theory: Strengthening It.” Scientifically (e.g., specific content in the dissertation of the author, “The Relationship Between The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory,” completed in 1992 and specific content in The 16PF Fifth Edition Administrator’s Manual published in 1994) and experientially, year after year, the paper does appear to have been supported. Since 1986 recurrent themes have been identified as causes for significant problems (e.g., recent economic recession) in the mainstream US media and other media and information outlets throughout the world. The identified causal themes in such media and information outlets appear to have supported the paper, “Holland’s Theory: Strengthening It” written in 1986.

For example, the financial industry has been implicated in the economic recession of recent years and appeared to chronically take advantage of and manipulate people (financially) with a high frequency, intensity, and duration.

  • There is an apparent long history, frequency, and intensity corruption in banks and other areas of the financial industry in the US such as brokerages.
  • There is a long history, frequency, and intensity of corruption on Wall Street in the US (e.g., from  Ponzi to Madoff and many, many, many others).
  • Corruption in areas identified above has apparently affected; other areas in society such as lobbying and other forms of influence peddling; the voting behavior process; the people who are elected who make laws and the people such as judges who themselves who are elected or appointed by those who are elected; the judicial process itself; and the information that people have access to and communicate about in many areas including the mainstream news and all levels of education.

The Dissertation,”The Relationship Between The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory,” written in 1992 has supported “Holland’s Theory : Strengthening It”  written in 1986.

In the 1986 paper on page 11 it was written : “…The crucial part of the theory is establishing whether I and A Holland Code Types are more intuitive and R,S, and E and C Holland Code Types are more sensing….” Also, on page three of the theory written in 1986, E and C Types are shown via a drawing to be even more sensing than R and S Types. Per the Dissertation, completed in 1992 :

1. “Congruence is the degree to which there is a match between a personality type and environment. If opportunities and rewards in an environment do not correspond to the preferences and abilities of the person, incongruence occurs (e.g., an Investigative type in an Enterprising environment)…congruence between personality and work environment determines achievement, stability, and vocational satisfaction” (pages 12-13).

2.  The Canonical Correlation Analysis Summary results on page 157 included : “The results indicated that Intuition was consistently and positively associated with A and I Holland codes and negatively associated with the C Holland code.”  (Content in parentheses was omitted.)

3. The Q-factor Analysis Summary results on pages 167-168 included : “High MBTI Intuition scores were positively associated with Investigative and Artistic and lowest on Enterprising and Conventional codes.”

“Holland’s Theory : Strengthening It” (1986) goes beyond what Holland’s Theory suggests (including most recent version[s] of the theory). While congruence determines apparent (relative) achievement, stability, and vocational satisfaction of individuals, congruence does not apparently predict a more absolute level of individual and/or societal satisfaction, stability, and achievement. An E type such as one of many people in the financial industry who has or has had securities Ponzi scheme(s) may immensely enjoy/be satisfied, be stable, and achieving while in the process taking advantage of someone or large groups of people for decades to make money in their chosen vocation in the US.  But the other person or large groups of people being taken advantage of and society at large may not be satisfied, stable, or achieving in vocational work areas, for example, as a direct result of the scheming Ponzi behavior done by the individual with an E Holland Code. The more E and C Types are less like A and I Types, for example, the less absolute social and individual social satisfaction, stability, and achievement overall.

The Hygiology Post Six Part Series : Healthy Change has at least suggested that intuition, utilizing intuition, and fostering intuition in areas such as voting behavior (viz., The Voter Scorecard) and education may be a personality construct or respective method that can decrease; structural entitlement in the World Court for the US; information filters and the influence of mass media elite who have wealth and power; war; electing those who are likely to engage in war behavior; Obedience to Authority; Authoritarianism; media bias and education bias by those such as mainstream media journalism reporters and college professors; and engaging in hazing or bullying type behaviors among many people including college students who are Fraternity Members as well as the apparent vast manipulating and bullying history of the financial industry toward the public. This Epilogue to The Hygiology Post Six Part Series : Healthy change explicitly does at least hypothesize that intuition, utilizing intuition, and fostering intuition in areas such as voting behavior (viz., The Voter Scorecard) and education may be a personality construct or respective method that can decrease; structural entitlement in the World Court for the US; information filters and the influence of mass media elite who have wealth and power; war; electing those who are likely to engage in war behavior; Obedience to Authority; Authoritarianism; media bias and education bias by those such as mainstream media journalism reporters and college professors; and engaging in hazing or bullying type behaviors among many people including college students who are Fraternity Members as well as the apparent vast manipulating and bullying history of the financial industry toward the public.

Writing behavior may additionally be a specific mechanism to enhance intuition, decrease a censorship of a toxic social milieu, and cope with a toxic social milieu for many people. The voting behavior process could be enhanced/made comprehensively wholesome by writing and utilizing methodologies to allow voters to connect ideas comprehensively in contrast to sudden and calculated negative advertising in the mainstream US media which does not appear to foster connecting ideas comprehensively. The six part series identified specific ways to immediately address money corrupting the voting behavior process and offered readers the ability to utilize one identified method online for free. The six part series also identified the need to end poverty and hunger and economic (basic) needs disparity in the world and identified a method based upon appealing to the self interests of those with wealth and power to effectuate ending hunger, poverty and economic (basic) needs disparity in the world.

The copyrighted paper written in 1986 shows that intuition has been a catalyst for individual and social change. In addition to helping in identifying the need for certain and specific extant behaviors to be increased and changed/attenuated as identified above, “Holland’s Theory: Strengthening It” does indicate that over time, people, both individually and collectively, will behave in a healthier manner. The six part series expounded on this theme by identifying research, information, cultural phenomena, and solutions. While sometimes identifying actual apparent health-enhancing changes that have occurred such as informed consent in research projects and legislation against and increased awareness of hazing behavior, the six part series has often identified mechanisms for, solutions to, and areas needing healthy change currently.

The Hygiology Post welcomes feedback from readers on all six parts of the completed series (individually and/or as a total package) as to whether the articles help fulfill its vision and mission.
