The National Alliance of Professional Psychology Providers (NAPPP) Proposal On Gun Violence Appears To Have At Least Some Merit

Various organizations have identified ways to decrease gun violence recently. Here is one that appears to have at least some merit.

“NAPPP Sends Proposal On gun Violence To VP Committee. NAPPP sends a proposal to VP Joe Biden on how we think practitioners can be used to stem gun violence.” (https://nappp.org/; obtained 3-24-13)

The four page letter (https://nappp.org/pdf/Biden.pdf; obtained on 3-24-13) was sent to Vice President Joe Biden by Psychologist and Executive Director John Caccavale, Ph.D. on January 3, 2013.

Here is an excerpt :

“The three parts to this proposal comprises :

[]   Psychological Assessment for initial gun acquisition and periodic review.

[]   Establishing a Registration Database .

[]   Establishing a National Impairment Database”

However, the proposal does not seem to address the intensity of violence (please see previous articles in The Hygiology Post dated 7-26-12, 12-14-12, 12-15-12, and 12-17-12).
