In a recent interview President Trump told Bill O’Reilly that the United States has “A lot of killers”.
President for Franklin Delano Roosevelt reportedly told Einstein he would not use nuclear capabilities in war. President Truman later dropped two bombs on Japan in high population centers in 1945.
The United States invaded Iraq purportedly due to it having “weapons of mass destruction” that were never found.
In between these times, there was the Bay of Pigs invasion, the Vietnam War, and the bombing of Cambodia…
The Mining of Harbors in Nicaragua lead to the US being charged with war crimes…
And so much more…
President Trump appeared to be literally correct. However, the context was that he seemed to be making a point of equivalence with killing that the current Russia leader, President Putin has reportedly caused and been responsible for doing.
While the context may not be perfect, this writer is reminded of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Here is a quote from Dr. King: “Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars… Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”
