Gordon Summers–Sting–called world leaders “half men and cowards” according to Reuters today for their inability to deal with refugees humanely. He praised Greece at an Amnesty International event in Athens. : “Thank God for Greece because you have shown the way…You have shown how to treat refugees when other people are building walls. When children are being taken from their mothers and put in cages, you are acting with compassion and generosity and commonsense…Because our so-called leaders, a sad parade of half-men, cowards, have not got the solutions … Once again Greece has shown us how to be civilized.”

Why did U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this week on Wednesday appear to abandon a policy of separating migrant children from their parents on the U.S.-Mexico border?

Transparency seems to be at least one component that can separate self centered and/or aggressive behavior from empathy.

“King of Pain” (released in 1983 as a single on album “Syncronicity” by Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland, from the band Police) ended the following way:

“There’s a king on a throne with his eyes torn out
There’s a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
There’s a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
There’s a skeleton choking on a crust of bread

There’s a red fox torn by a huntmen’s pack, that’s my soul up there
There’s a black winged gull with a broken back, that’s my soul up there
There’s a little black spot on the sun today
It’s the same old thing as yesterday
I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running ’round my brain
I guess I’m always hoping that you’ll end this reign
But it’s my destiny to be the king of pain
King of pain
King of pain, king of pain, I always be king of pain”
The Author is also reminded of the Biblical Solomon’s Sword and The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht. In the Caucasian Chalk Circle  a legal battle between two women over a child regarding who is the real mother has a judge place the child inside a chalk circle, saying that the real mother will be able to pull the child from the circle. The woman who does not pull the child has the judge rule in her favor and the judge saying something like “Behold the power of the magic chalk circle!”
