Historical information shows that President Franklin Roosevelt was sent a letter in 1939 alerting him to “…extremely powerful bombs of a new type thus may be contsructed.” (see , for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einstein%E2%80%93Szil%C3%A1rd_letter#/media/File:Einstein-Roosevelt-letter.png; obtained on 6-13-2018). The United States used the so called atomic bomb against Japan twice in 1945. President Harry Truman in 1950 reportedly declined to rule out use of atomic bombs on the Korean Peninsula.
North Korea in 2018 reportedly has considerable Nuclear capabilities while the UN and others have documented human rights abuses in North Korea including in recent years. The United States has admitted engaging in torture against prisoners after September 11, 2001 and just recently, Gina Haspel, who was involved in CIA torture, is now the Director of The CIA after being nominated by President Donald Trump.
US President Donald Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on June 12, 2018 in Singapore. President Trump wrote on twitter today: “Before taking office people were assuming that we were going to War with North Korea. President Obama said that North Korea was our biggest and most dangerous problem. No longer – sleep well tonight!”
Peace is a worthy goal. Hopefully there will be peace. The meeting in Singapore may spell trouble for some. The meeting could be politically advantageous to both leaders and their goals. It could mean that there is continued human rights abuses. It could mean that many of the people are more impoverished with less operational healthcare advances available. And, it could mean that Authoritarian-Type Behavior advances.
If so, this Author believes their forwarded agenda will be only temporary (See “A Theory of Social Change” detailed in earlier articles.).
