Part Five presents a third of “Some Prescriptions For Productive Goals” in an example essay. It was entered in a contest through a high school and sponsored by a local business. The essay was written nearly 36 years ago by the then high school tenth grade student and current author. The essay serves as an example of an outcome of Prescription #3 : Provide (structured) incentive for people to solve local, regional, national, and international problems. Inductive and deductive reasoning, a (healthy) skepticism of factual knowledge sources such as news outlets, creativity, intuition, independent and critical thinking, and an operational concern for others could all be garnered and perhaps in at least some areas and instances enhanced — especially if this prescription is utilized well, often, regularly, and incentivized by those who currently have the ability to make it a reality.
In 1975, The Molded Fiber Glass Company sponsored an essay contest open to students in grades 10-12 (with assistance from teachers) in Ashtabula County Schools. The Topic was “What Are Our Country’s Problems and What Can Young People Do To Solve Them?” The Awards Dinner Program Flyer is shown separately beneath the copyrighted essay. From 1975, an essay by the author is shown below followed by the Essay Awards Dinner Program Flyer.
The Hygiology Post is currently in the planning stages to help sow (locally and perhaps in other geographic areas, dependent on interest and engagement) a similar contest on apparent current fallow fields (at this particular locale) and harvest the reinvigorating and reinventing mixed wheels of progress. The Hygiology Post is currently seeking sponsors and partners to help make this concept a reliable renewed reality. If interested, please contact The Hygiology Post at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Shown here is a potential essay contest draft sketch; any geographic area could be used : “This essay contest is open to all residents in Ashtabula County, Ohio in the United States of America. All high school students enrolled in the County are eligible for the five prize awards of ____ thousand dollars (_,000 USD) to be used for any type of advanced education beyond high school within six years after graduation. Money will be paid directly into a bank trust and held for winners until needed. At that time it will be paid directly to the college, university, vocational technical education program, or other appropriate advanced training programs as determined by The Hygiology Post. The top five winners can advance if they so choose to the state contest (and, if they continue to place as award winners they can advance to to the regional, national, and international essay contest). For those under 18 years of age both the student and parent/legal guardian would need to submit the signed essay on behalf of the essay completed by the County student.
Ashtabula County is the the largest county by area in Ohio. Please consider the history of Ashtabula County. Please also consider physical, psychological, social, economic, and/or cultural factors that relate to health enhancement and health preservation of people in your essay. What have you found to be the healthiest if not one of the healthiest, most productive thing ever originated and done in the County and what have you found to be the unhealthiest if not one of the unhealthiest, least productive thing ever originated and done in the County ? What can be done in the future to increase the likelihood of such a positive healthy outcome occurrence you identified and what can be done in the future to decrease the probability of such an unhealthy negative outcome occurrence you identified ? Please identify the basis of any factual data by citing any sources of information within the body of your essay. Please also identify how you arrived at any conclusions by letting the reader know what method(s) was used such as expert consensus, scientific research, or personal hypotheses. All entries become the property of The Hygiology Post and can reproduced and distributed by The Hygiology Post at no charge.”
